On Time and Spaciousness for Burnout Recovery with Stephanie Lopez

On Time and Spaciousness for Burnout Recovery with Stephanie Lopez

With so many of you reaching out to me to share your stories of deep fatigue and burnout, I’m delighted to share another episode on this very important topic.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear a very personal conversation with a dear teacher, mentor and friend Stephanie Lopez. I met Stephanie around 10 years ago when she first came to Australia to teach an iRest meditation training, and it is not an exaggeration to say that this training with Stephanie and Richard Miller changed my life, both personally and in the way I work. Ten years later, it still infuses my understanding of yoga, psychology and how to be a human in the world.

Stephanie (she/her) is the Senior Advisor of Philosophy and Learning, and a Senior Trainer at the iRest Institute. She’s also a Gestalt psychotherapist, certified yoga therapist, and world-leading meditation teacher who has presented meditation at Google, Spotify, UC Berkeley and more, and is a contributing author of Yoga Nidra Meditations.

In our conversation today, Stephanie shares with us her own journey with burnout and recovery, and how surprising this was as a therapist and meditation teacher, and what really helped her to navigate these difficult times.

Hi, I'm Dr Lauren Tober!

As a Clinical Psychologist and Yoga Teacher of nearly two decades and the author of Mental Health Aware Yoga: A Guide for Yoga Teachers, I'm passionate about integrating yoga and psychology on the mat, in the counselling room and in the world.

With the growing interest in mental health and yoga, yoga students are attending yoga classes for the mental health benefits in unprecedented numbers.

In fact, 79.4% of yoga students report practicing yoga for the mental health benefits.

It's important that Yoga Teachers know how to support them.
