What Microphone Do I Use to Teach Yoga Online?
When you’re teaching online, it’s important to have good sound quality.
It can be very confusing and distracting for students if they have trouble hearing you. By spending a little time, and a little money settling up your audio well, your students will likely have a better experience practicing yoga with you online and can participate in your class, rather than feel frustrated about not being able to hear you properly.
Dr Lauren Tober has been teaching online for nearly a decade, and while she doesn’t claim to be a sound pro, she has learnt a thing or two about microphones and headsets.
In this video Dr Lauren shares the three microphones she is currently using to teach, and the different reasons she chooses to use each one. The decision as to which microphone/headset to use is based on whether she’s teaching live or pre-recorded; whether she is moving around and teaching a practice-based class, or sitting still to speak or teach meditation; or whether she wants to be able to hear her students while she’s teaching or not.
The three mics she is currently using are:
- RØDE Wireless GO II
- RØDE SmartLav+
- Apple AirPods Pro
