Yoga and ACT
How do the fields of Clinical Psychology and Yoga intersect? This is a topic that Clinical Psychologists and Yoga Teachers, Dr Lauren Tober and Dr Kaitlin Harkess (she/her), will be exploring today, looking at this question through the lens of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
ACT is a deeply empowering mindfulness-based therapy to support people to live lives that are in alignment with their core values, and is valuable both in terms of symptom reduction (when we’re facing mental health challenges) and in terms of consciously creating a life we love, so we can go beyond surviving and really thrive in the world.
Tune in to hear Dr Kaitlin’s take on the way that the six core processes of ACT fit into the model of yoga, including:
- Acceptance
- Cognitive Defusion
- Contacting the Present Moment
- Self as Context
- Values
- Committed Action
Kaitlin will be joining us for the next Mental Health and Yoga Summit, starting on the 29th of August 2022, talking more about the integration of yoga and psychology.
The Summit is for Yoga Teachers who are interested in mental health and Mental Health professionals who are interested in yoga, and we do hope you can join us.
