Supported Child’s Pose
In today’s episodes Dr Lauren Tober shares one of her favourite restorative yoga postures; Supported Child’s Pose (Salamba Balasana).
Spending a few minutes in this position, as a stand-alone practice or as part of a longer yoga practice, can be a great way to nourish and nurture yourself.
In this video episode you will learn:
- What Dr Lauren’s students tell her about this posture
- The yoga props you will need, as well as common household alternatives for when you’re teaching online and your students don’t have traditional yoga props at home
- The recommended time to stay in this position
- How to support your students who have difficultly resting in stillness or have a busy ruminative mind

Hi, I'm Dr Lauren Tober!
As a Clinical Psychologist and Yoga Teacher of nearly two decades and the author of Mental Health Aware Yoga: A Guide for Yoga Teachers, I'm passionate about integrating yoga and psychology on the mat, in the counselling room and in the world.
With the growing interest in mental health and yoga, yoga students are attending yoga classes for the mental health benefits in unprecedented numbers.
